Speaking of Tanith Lee, one gets some lovely surprises that way, as
well. I can remember the twelve year old me being affronted by what she
seems to have seen as the sub-Doctor Who monster concept of vampire
sand. Unfortunately, that meant I failed completely to remember the rest
of the episode. Fortunately, when I bought the tape with "Sand" on it,
what I saw was considerably better than what I remembered.

<wry smile> Given what I remembered, that wasn't very hard, was it?

I am looking for a kind soul who is willing to share a copy of " Merlin
" with Gareth Thomas with me!!!
I would love to see it and I am sure it will never ( at least not in
this century ) be aired in Germany.

Of course I would cover all cost and NTSC is fine as well!!!

Thanks a lot

So would that mean that Orac as such existed before the creation of the
blinking box, and that what the crew have is just a voice box? If so, how
much was Orac doing before he was "created"?

If I were writing a story around this, I'd say that Ensor saw the
potential for Orac and intentionally woke him to sentience at the same
time as he built the (first) voice box.

I've finally got around to responding to this. I statted out all the B7
regulars in GURPS terms about a year ago. To put the numbers into
some perspective for non-GURPS players, an average man has stats at
10 and human max is 20. For skill levels, a 10 is average, 12 is rather
skilled, 14 is well-trained and 16 is expert.

News to me. There is *lots* of Blake's 7 fanfic in print form. There are over
1,000 Blake's 7 fanzines of which at least 230 are still in print. That's an
awful lot of fiction.

If you look at http://www.hermit.org/Blakes7 you will find information about
fanzines published by lots of different people.

Please! Hoyle wasn't responsible for 'Afterlife'. That was Attwood. Hoyle
wrote the episode novelisations.

Or you could buy something like 'The Machiavelli Factor', one of my all time

Whenever there's a virus hoax, the person who passed it on gets yelled at.
Having been on the end of this once myself, when I fell for one shortly
after getting online, I remember I was so upset by the tone of the replies
that I nearly unsubscribed from all my lists. We're all victims of these
hoaxes, but the one who falls for it is the principal victim - can't we
warn them kindly rather than angrily?

I do, when the person appears to be a newbie who really hasn't encountered
the concept before. However, I have no patience at all with someone who
states right up front that "I know that most of these virus warnings are a
hoax" and then posts one anyway, without bothering to check it out.

Yeah, sorry to give the impression I wasn't familiar with that stuff. I'll
probably check it out again. I've read a bit, and enjoyed it. Most of the
B7 stuff I do read is the stuff posted over at Space City or on the web in
general.

Hmm, I'll look into that. Actually if anyone has any recomendation for good
B7 non-erotica fanzines or novellas I'd be very interested in hearing about
them.

As much as he does now, which is to say, nothing except to his own
amusement. Ture he does a bit more now in regards to being useful, but
that is mitigated by the amount of time wasted complaining about those
same useful acts.

I had a notion for a very short-short stroy, non-explicit slash, occur
to me today as I was mulling over the 'unlikely pairings' questions of
the past. Now, I know this isn't the list for *that* sort of story, but
as I say, it would be non-explicit. Normally I don't write slash and
haven't really been inclined to read it, but this particular notion is
an amusing one that I think would offend no one.

If any objection at all is made, I won't bother. But if there are no
objections, I will write it for the subscribers of this list.

I'm going to tie in the comments about roleplaying with another thread--
SF vs. F.

I play AD &D, a fantasy RPG, primarily. There is in our group, a Vila
Restal, Kerr Avon (and his twin sister), Jenna, and Roj Blake. Another
character was named Oracon and had nothing to do with B7, but notheless,
we inevitably shortened his name to Orac. We've also had NPCs such as a
telepath named Cally, and giantess (?!) named Dayna show up. We rescued
a Del Tarrant from a dungeon once, and have fought a one-eyed,
one-handed villian named Trav, and Axel Reiss (from Terrible Aspect, if
you haven't read it)-- if we get back to the game, we will be having our
final show-down with Servalan soon.

Most of the characters have been played very true to the originals'
personalities, but the powers and skills have obviously been changed.
Some are good analogies to between SF and F, but others have gone fairly
far off course. Any fantasy gamers actually want to know what we came up
with for them?

As we're getting closer to the date and people are worried about availability of
hotel rooms, we've uploaded the hotel form to the convention web page
http://www.smof.com/redemption/ so that people can book their hotel room when
they send in their registration.

There are still rooms left, though they'll go further if booked as twins rather
than singles. Please do think about sharing. We'll try and arrange a sharer
for you if you wish.

We've completed the provisional programme now. We've got debates and
discussions on many aspects of Blake's 7 (was Avon really a psychopath? Why
was the Federation's military strategy so terrible? etc.), games ranging from
the Dalek scalextric set to RPGs. We've talks on subjects ranging from
astrophysics to make-up. There's totally off-topic workshops on juggling and
puppetry (all right, so there's a wonderful marionette of Avon and it will be in
the auction...). There's quizes, competitions, table-top cricket, a group of
totally insane Klingons, a session to build your own spaceship from household
junk, writing workshops (by David McIntee, EPS aka Lilian Sheperd, and Jane
Killick), bloopers from B5 and B7, plus Joe Nazzaro, Sheelagh Wells, Brian
Croucher and the amazing David Walsh. Whaddya mean, you've never seen David
Walsh? He does a unique impersonation of Servalan. If you were at Deliverance
or the last Who's 7, you'll certainly remember him. Has to be seen to be
believed.

Not forgetting filking, Sheridan's trial for treason, videos from many shows as
well as favourites from B7 and B5, the disco, more games, bring and buy sale for
second-hand zines, chaos costume workshop, etc.

Judith

PS. We also do memberships for cuddly toys. So far, I think we have seven
teddy bears and a sheep registered!
