Calle said re Deborah's posting: "Keep that crap *off* the list.
Commercial stuff is ok *only* when B7-related. Do that sort of thing
again, and you *will* be thrown out.
You will *not* get a second warning."

Am I missing something here? This sounds a little harsh for a first
warning. I'm sure Deborah thought she was just trying to do a favour by
pointing out a cheap internet access method. OK, it shouldn't be on the
list, but there are polite ways of saying so. Your post is just rude and
unnecessarily so.

The bit about filling in her name made me think that she also tried to
get personal gain out of it, and that's something I really don't like
(abusing the list for personal gain, that is, not the personal gain in
itself). But I probably was a bit harsh, yes.

This is interesting because I don't think any girly fan of the two shows
would map the characters like this. I'm not disagreeing, just mentioning
that there is another way of looking at it.

The girly consensus seems to be more like

Blake = Skinner (= big and paternal)
Fox = Avon (= brainy and suffering)

Mapping the baddies is much more complicated

- Some fans think of Travis as just a baddy, and so he fills the same role
as the CSM
- For some fans Travis and Krycek are sexy/evil types and so they fulfil a
similar role (in fanfic plots).
- For some fans Krycek is primarily there to be pretty and get bashed up, so
he equates with Avon, Vila or Tarrant depending on your preferences. I think
his looks tend to appeal to Tarrant fans as it happens.

Jenna does map onto Scully as female side-kick who is either seen as
interfering with or complementing the male's relationships with each other.

And I think mapping the Frohike gang onto Orac is inspired.

It is for personal gain - that ISP is running a pyramid scheme, whereby
you get free calls if you sign up x number of other people. I for one am
getting fed up with the ensuing spam. It's no more acceptable than any
other MMF.

Incidently, the more paranoid types are of the opinion that it's a new
and exciting way of harvesting email addresses for spamming.

Aren't I glad I caught part of the X Files episode on
Channel 10 last night. Now I know who you're talking
about.

I've always said, and hold to it, that Alex Krycek reminds me a lot of
Tarrant. They even look alike. Agree?
