Yes! It would be very plausible for Jenna still to be alive after all.

Maybe Blake was lying about her death, or maybe he sincerely did think she
was dead. Maybe she somehow got off her ship before it exploded. Maybe she
was injured in the explosion and became amnesiac as a result, and has only
just remembered who she is. (Sort of like Hellhound Blake. :)

Sally K. still has plenty of star quality-- maybe even more than when she
was young and inexperienced. She could certainly carry off a major role.
Nice idea.

Thanks Una, this was fun. I never really thought of myself as a strategist,
though.

I thought it was being rather accurate classifying me as an QEMT (engineer
who conducts destructive testing...its what I do) but then looking further
along the stats it classes a quarter of all participants as this. (Maybe
its inbuilt into everyone's makeup to break things :)

Nicely distracting fun though.

A decent script for a start.

Absolutely

But this is a season 4-ish thing drafted by Mister Uncomplicated himself,
so I wouldn't hold my greath, great though this would be.

Why not? It's not going to hurt The Phantom Menace...

Hm.

That'd be great. But this is the team behind the radio shows, where
Servalan is camper than Dale Winton

They should reference Blake but if they got Gareth involved they should
keep it secret - and make the viewers guess whether he really will show up.

Again, the radio shows would suggest there isn't much chance of this,
unfortunately.

That'd be nice, but probably sould get skipped as unnecessary

Well, we never really saw much of its lives or its workings originally, so
even if they did that, it wouldn't really be showing a difference...

Me, I'd like to see:

Decent effects, however few or many there are.

Chris Boucher writing the script. Or me.

Location filming other than in quarries and woods.

A complex Avon perhaps unsure of who he is any more

Fates given for all the season 4 cast

Servalan being a believable military leader

Real science getting a look-in.

A plot that would actually surprise me.

Intelligent, Dangerous, Way-cool, Deep, Idealistic. And if allowed a sixth
I'd add Passionat. Those last two will get some queries, I'm sure, but I
think they both fit - they're just something he hides and denies.

<chuckle> It's difficult to find fault with this, Judith. I'd say
you may have come up with *the* definitive list. Mine looks
like this:

Complex, intelligent, passionate, consistent, and magnetic.

And I do have a preference -- it's the consistency that matters
to me. And thanx to David McIntee for the word passionate,
which is the one I was casting about for and couldn't find.

Going off to meditate on Vila words,

Definitely. I vote for John Nettles - Paul Darrow and John Nettles in
the same movie
would be TV Heaven!

>A plot that has some insight into the political workings of the
Federation - I

Or whatever regime has supplanted the Federation. Maybe radical changes
in
the political structure could be the reason why the story is being told
now, e.g.
Avon incarcerated and forgotten somewhere and changes in the regime mean
he gets noticed again.

>Special effects, though not so many that they dominate everything else.

It wouldn't worry me if there were no effects, but you are right they
shouldn't
overshadow the story.

>No romance - at least, not for Avon. I'd like to see Vila find a
long-term love
>though.

I couldn't agree more!

>Old characters - Avon and Vila, and possibly Servalan ....

Absolutely! And someone else has already mentioned Jenna - good idea.

>I want to see the deeper aspects of Avon's character brought out. I
want to see
>that occasonal honesty forced to the surface. I want him to have to

>difficult choices that can't be solved with a gun ...

I want to see Avon played as he would be after 15 or 20 years with
character
changes to take that in to account. Wealth wouldn't be important to him
now
and maybe he would have lost some of the arrogance, gaining wisdom and
patience instead.

>I want to see more of the Federation, to see what it has become, to see
how its
>people live their lives

It would be nice to get a glimpse at what every day life is like for an
ordinary
citizen.

I would also like:

- the same theme tune, not messed about with in any way,
- witty lines and generally sharp dialogue,
- judicious use of flash backs,
- an account of what happened to Avon (and the others?) after GP but
told so that it takes no more than two or three lines of dialogue,
- some surprises and maybe a sting in the tail.

Mistral's Ultimate B7 Fantasy Wish List:
=====================================

Must Haves:

A balanced emphasis between all the returning regular
cast, instead of focusing on one or two.

Terrific Avon-Vila bits.

More character development of everybody; particularly
Soolin, if used. The characters are older, they should have
matured some; possibly a slightly more world-weary Vila;
he was starting to get that way at the end of series D.
Stronger writing for the female crew.

A plot, a la series B. (As opposed to an action flick, a la
series D.) Action sequences for pacing and punctuation,
but not dominant.

Regular Federation citizens, who *aren't* either rebels
or Federation lackeys -- people like Bek, Hanna, Bellfriar.
I'd particularly like some grittiness -- maybe even run into
the Terra Nostra again.

=====================================

Extremely Desirable:

Blake -- how about as computer-interface simulation? Flies
the new ship, mothers the crew, philosophizes with Avon and
prods them all into action.

Rebuild the Liberator. (Yes, well, I'm fantasizing, okay?)

Sally Knyvette; if not as Jenna, then maybe a new baddie?

Interesting but unobtrusive guest stars, for example, Diana
Rigg as a Federation official and Servalan's nemesis; David
Suchet as an Amagon or other baddie; etc.

The return of a minor character, such as Tyce, Artix, Bek,
Ro, etc.; maybe Del Grant as leader of a rival faction?

Lots of little in-jokes for long-time fans to watch for: cameos
by actors who were on the series, a character named Valentine,
a bar called the Minbari; etc.

Let them come out ahead of Servalan for a change; get
the downbeat ending some other way. And I *do* think
it should have a (mildly) downbeat ending, if only to avoid
giving the BBC a reason to launch a cheerily optimistic
90's series. Keep it B7.

=====================================

Scenes I'd Like to See:

Avon and Soolin relaxing together over ice-cream sundaes.

Tarrant pulling off some brilliant piloting and getting a big
kick out of it.

Avon finally kills Servalan; if we view this as an AU, the
Servalan fen should be able to handle it.

Somebody actually engaging in a hobby: listening to music;
collecting real books, with pages; sketching; I'd like to see
that they know the value to the human being of relaxation.

Somebody catches Avon doing something ridiculous, like
impersonating a movie star or dancing around his room.

Vila finally wins a game!!!!!!!

Now, there's a happy thought. <smile>

Finally -- a topic short enough for me to contribute to :-)

My 5 adjectives for Avon: Honest, strong-willed, inner-directed,
competent and loyal.

Now, would anyone like to try Blake? I'll go first: Altruistic,
courageous, compassionate, single-minded and shrewd.

I don't know why but I always seem to post messages about the
Rallying Call APA during cons.

Right after I posted the last time, I had some email/server problems.
While I think I replied to everyone who wrote to me, I would just
like to ask if anyone here tried emailing me about RC but didn't get
a reply please try me again!! I just have this nagging feeling that I
may have missed someone!

Thanks,

Terry Owen

I'd really love to see a realistic starfield. No more innacurate matte
paintings.

Seconded. Or if Boucher writes it, you could do the novelization. I have
to admit Boucher's recent Who novel forray was less than spectacular. (I
just finished The Wages of Sin last week. If anyone has any question about
the quality of David's writing, I highly suggest checking this one out.)

What! There has to be at least one quarry scene. Just for nostolga's sake.

I fear what we will get is more of a ATA Avon.

It would be nice, but it would risk confusing the casual new viewer. Sort
of how the Who movie shouldn't have explained regeneration. It was
unessesary and confused the viewer.

Definately.

The last two radio plays didn't? Sure they wern't all that great, but they
certainly were suprising (although usually for all the wrong reasons).

<shrug> She who has read Mission: Impractical says
that if DM can bring a DWM comic character into a
novel, then he's capable of considering the wish lists
people are compiling.

<smile> However, a ballot paper of mine would be
marked
          [1] Chris Boucher

Hmm, voting. That sort of vote would be a lot more fun
than it was trying to decide who would get second last
place on my lower house ballot paper in the NSW state
elections (last place went to One Nation
automatically).

I just hope the powers that be don't do to B7 what it sounds like they
did
to Poldark. I guess the pilot for a new series was a major
disappointment
because they recast "sacred" roles.

I guess I have another hope -- a strong director. I love PD dearly but
from what I've seen his performance improves under clear direction.

Hi! I had an assignment to create wallpaper and I picked B7 to practice.

Penny described Avon as: << Supercilious, self-absorbed, short-tempered,
savage, slick.>>

And then went on to add:

<< No wait, maybe that's Blake. >>

That's great! You certainly could use these words to describe either man.
I'm sure that is how they saw each other.

Here are my adjectives for Avon (not that I can match Penny's!)

Intelligent, clever, penetrating, judgmental, conscientious. Could these be
Blake too?

Intelligent and conscientious I'd agree with
immediately. Penetrating? Well, I'd have to make up my
mind as to whether or not Arlen would've fooled Blake
at the start, as well as at the end. Otherwise, fair
enough.

As for Avon, I'd substitute devious, and I'd have to
think about calling him penetrating and conscientious.
The latter, I'm afraid, seems to depend on what's in
it for him.

Joanne

Grrrrr, watch it, girl, Servalan rules in any universe, alternate or not
:-).

Somebody actually engaging in a hobby: listening to music;
collecting real books, with pages; sketching; I'd like to see
that they know the value to the human being of relaxation.

The only two instances of this happening in the series that I can remember
both involve Cally: she took a moondisk as a pet and was listening to music
one time when she was on teleport duty. I would like to see what the others
would find relaxing.
