I've often thought that "The Way Back" would make an excellent stage
play. In fact, the first three episodes go together to form an
outstanding piece of theatrical drama.

Just delurking to say that if we ever stood a chance of getting some "real"
B7 novels out there then now is the time to write to BBC Books and tell em
you want them... The crossover thing in Chris B's second book is a golden
opportunity. (my lips are sealed on the identity of the crossover
character, except to say that (he) is "undoubtedly the sexiest...")
I have sworn to Steve Cole (ed of DW books) that he will see a swelling in
sales figures on the basis of the B7 factor... The next step is to use that
to convince BBC Books to diversify a bit...(especially when they have Chris
Boucher available and keen to write!!)
Watch this space - i'll try to mole out any additional info on the next CB
book i can. Please tho, if you want to see B7 novels then write and call
and say NOW (and for god sake buy Chris's next book!!) and it has a real
chance of happening.

On the subject of Mr Tarrant, I was thinking the other day that he'd
have made a much better partner for Servalan than Avon would have done.
Avon was right to avoid that relationship -- he would certainly have
ended up dead, and sooner rather than later. Tarrant, on the other
hand... Once Servalan had brought him over to seeing things her way --
which wouldn't have been difficult, for obvious reasons -- she would
have counted on his absolute loyalty and fierce devotion. She would
have come to depend on him in a way that would have been impossible with
Avon, and Tarrant, though very much physically weakened, would certainly
have escaped with his life...

In the last Horizon newsletter it said that Fantastic Films
were releasing tapes 8 and 9 on the 7th September.
However, HMV in Stockport, which usually gets them
on the day of release, still hadn't got them on sale

Couldn't agree more. The only place we got one was in Saudi Arabia, when
hubby was over there a couple of years ago. We've got a Hitachi, though
our other one which we've had for about 12 years is a Panasonic (bought in
England) it's on it's last leg though I'm afraid. The Hitachi was about
triple the price you'd pay for an "ordinary" VCR.

Julia and I aren't madly keen on Gareth's current publicity photo, so we've
taken our favourite colour photo of the ones that Julia took at Neutral Zone
back in the winter and made some decent size copies.
The picture we used can be seen on my web page if you look at the Neutral Zone
con report. It's a head shot of Gareth smiling and obviously enjoying himself.
(Wer're cropping it to portrait rather than landscape and then enlarging it)
It's touch and go as to whether the photo shop will have them ready before I go
to see The Crucible next weekend, but if they are, I'll take some along if
anyone wants me to get personalised autographs for them.
We'll probably sell them for 5 pounds unsigned and 6 pounds signed. (We've also
got some smaller cheaper ones, but I'm not planning on collecting signatures on
those) Postage is extra depending on where you live and how much I have to pay
for cardboard mailers, but if you'll be at Ecclecticon, then I'll bring them
over free.
If we make any money beyond that needed to cover the cost of printing the
photos, then we'll pass it onto Gareth. We're not out to make money ourselves.
If you want a personal autograph, let me know the name and I'll try and get one
for you. (Please don't let me down on payment though, because a photo with your
name on it can't be sold to anyone else.) I can't guarantee to get it, but I'll
do my best.

Way back when, when I saw the series for the first time, I missed out
on the first two episodes. Well, I saw the last ten minutes of
Spacefall, but that's all. But my cousin (much older than I) who
wasn't into SF, had by some miracle seen _The Way Back_ and told me
what happened in it, with an aside that she considered it one of the
best hour's of TV she'd seen. Pretty high compliment, I think!

I totally agree. Vila would be very uncomfortable around anything as

Loyalty and devotion are dog traits, so Blake's a bit maverick for a dog
really. But I think he'd admire the traits in dogs as pets, although he
himself is probably more of a cat.

Delurking a bit to throw my 2 cents in...
Since Sue has not jumped in and defended Blakes's actions here,
may I point out that both Vila and Avon were holding guns on the
s.o.b. who was letting Gan die just to buy time for the Federation to
get there. It took Blake and his insightful threat to the surgeon to
get him back to work on Gan.
And he would've carried out that threat, not because he was a
vicious man, but because Gan was his friend and he'd do anything he
had to to save him. Just like he would've destroyed all Sarkoff's
toys to get through his thick skull that his people needed him.
Blake looks like a leader exhibiting dedication and loyalty when I
see those episodes (which i have in the last week).
