Your earlier definition of purple prose ("lots of adjectives,
high-falutin' phraseology, and lots of other over-the-top stuff that
experienced writers aren't supposed to touch with a bargepole of any
size") is correct. As you can see it doesn't exclude slash. So if there
is a page of purple prose it could include stuff from all aspects of the
genre, including slash.
Given the high amount of slash stories that exist in B7 fandom, I would
have thought it more surprising not to find slash stories on a page like
that.

Yep, that's what it is. The "purple prose" contest has been running over on
Space-City, and was basically a challenge to write the worst story openings
the writers could think of. Being from the Space-City denizens, they were
mostly "adult" in nature. That's why the Purple Prose page says up at the top:
Purple Prose
Ridiculous situations. Sentences to titillate and amuse. The worst adult
story openings you can think of, by writers who will never admit it.
Warning: some of these are extremely explicit, which means SEX.
In other words, read at your own risk.

Altazine is folding due to lack of sufficient submissions. I think most of us
tend to write via e-mail these days.
I'm handling overseas refunds for Neil and I've contacted most people
individually. However, I don't have an e-mail address for Sue Dalton or
Jacquelyn Taylor.
If either of you read this, could you please get in touch so that we can
determine whether you'd rather have a refund in dollars cash or a donation to
Oxfam (or I can buy Gareth a pint on your behalf at Neutral Zone this coming

A brief fanfic jargon overview:
Slash: Fan fiction which contains adult material involving same-sex
relationships. Slash ranges from understated to very explicit indeed. The
name is derived from the symbol "/", used to separate the names of the

Het: Fan fiction which contains adult material involving opposite-sex
relationships. Derived from "heterosexual".
