I first suspected a cock up, as Cult Times had them down to show The Way Back. Then I read Julie's post saying: "Yesterday (Saturday) they showed Space Fall and Cygnus Alpha back-to-back. I dont know when The Way Back was on." Now this suggests a deliberate rescheduling from what they told the listings mags. The questions is why. This type of scheduling could mean they are trying to get through the series this time round quickly. The only reason I can think of for that is their rights to show it are due to run out (maybe at the end of this year). This suggests the BBC has not guaranteed them the rights past then. Don't forget one of the conditions UK Gold has, I believe, is that the BBC do not show it while they are (I think it was Diane from Horizon who told me that some time ago when they started showing it the second time round). One conclusion from all this could be the BBC is planning to show it next year on its 21st anniversary (serious finger crossing going on here). I think the Cable Guide had them in this order. This Saturday they showed 2 episodes of Blakes 7 plus the short two episode Doctor Who story Inside The Spaceship. This is weird because Inside The Spaceship was the *third* Doctor Who story, after The Daleks, but they showed it second, out of order. It spoils the story because the characters need to know each other well for it to work, and because they make several references to Skaro. I get the feeling they're just out to confuse their viewers! This happened quite a bit in the original Star Trek. And not to spoil anything for any TNG fans, but there is some pretty harsh anti-Federation policy stuff going on in the upcoming Star Trek film.... UK Gold is now owned and run by the BBC (as opposed to just being a de-facto puppet of it before). So I suspect licencing restrictions go out the window. Except the BBC has this bizarre internal market in full swing now, so they'd probably end up taking themselves to court over inringement of their own copyright by themselves, after having ignored their own cease-and-desist order.
