Helen, perhaps your could filk the wedding (Oh, I know it's not a proper
filk, but it sounds as if it might provide quite a bit of material)

from Trish, who has only one sister who's already married off to a wonderful
guy and no more family weddings, thank God!

Glynis Barber played a mutoid in Project Avalon. Wasn't a major part if I

You can order Avon through Judith Proctor's site. ALSO, you can leave a
request with Judith to forward if you have a particular character that you
would like to be done next. If you are interested in a complete set, state
that, also. I get the impression that showing interest in this project will
be very necessary for more to be done.

Kathryn,

Your drawings are quite lovely.

 http://jove.prohosting.com/~rubykat/gallery/

I especially love your Blakes. The Blake Gauda Prime face closeup is
particularly wonderful. You didn't do that many Blakes as compared to
Avons, but the ones you did do make your picture gallery a treat for me to
visit.

Um, there *are* three Cally pics on that page. Just because it's
alphabetical and all the Avons come first doesn't mean there's nothing
but Avon up there.

Well, whatever you call it, I find it very impressive. Of course, as
someone with absolutely zero artistic talent, I'm always utterly in
awe of anyone who can put a bunch of lines or dots on a piece of paper
and have it come out looking exactly like Avon's face. Part of me
finds it hard to believe that there isn't any black magic involved...

I personally can't stomach all those disintegration death scenes where the
body turns ugly, then to skeleton, then to powder and some mysterious wind
blows it all away. They look bad, they're shot sloppily, and they make me
glad we don't have Smell-o-Vision.

Hi Judith!

"Can I count that as a willingness to buy a Blake model?" Darn tootin'
you can!

I purchased little Avon through your site before the offer of assembly
and painting was available. I've got Mr. Trek Shipyard here who can
lend assistance to this ex-props mistress, but I think it's nice of you
to offer for those who don't like mixing epoxies or have patience with
tiny paint brushes. (Or have cats that see small objects as batting

I was just wondering if someone on this list might be interested in the
pencil drawings of B7 that I made by watching paused images on the TV
screen. The majority are from the first season. I haven't only drawn the
main characters (close-up, head to waist, full-length), but also various
spacecraft like Federation pursuit ships as well as accessories like the
Liberator handguns. Unfortunately I don't have a web page with scanned
pictures of them like Kathryn, but perhaps I'll make one in the future.

One of them would have been off that ship, dead or alive. Avon made it clear

remember? The mistrust he was at such pains to cultivate was - on her part -
very successfully planted, and I don't think she ever let it go.

Er, okay....

SLEEPING BEAUTY

Once Upon A Time there was a beautiful princess who slept a long
and deep sleep, surrounded by riches and objets d'art and all manner
of finery. In her sleep, she drifted farther and farther from her home,
and as the centuries passed, all her finery crumbled around her; but
she did not care or even know, because she slept the long sleep,
and that was the way of it.

In time the beautiful princess was awakened to find herself within
a strange castle of curious design, but she had never known fear,
nor expected she should need to; and so she arrayed herself in a
fine new body and her favourite ring of power, and went to seek
her fortune in this new place. And while she discovered that it was
indeed a very fine castle, she was ultimately saddened to find that
it was very far from home.

Her new world was not without amenities, however; she was
delighted to discover that she had been supplied (as all beautiful
princesses ought) with a Knight, a Minstrel, and a Fool. The Knight
was young, strong, and virtuous, if a bit tedious; the Minstrel was
conversant not only with the requisite songs, but with all the rages
and sulks that the finest minstrels are prone to; and perhaps best of
all, the nimble-minded Fool was a near plague of antic buffoonery,
full of tricks and stories, and eager to please.

And so she was quite satisfied with the castle and its retainers, but
homesick for the land in which she had first begun to dream. Even
in her exile, however, the princess was not without resources; she
knew a spell of travelling, and she resolved to return to her homeland,
taking the castle and retainers with her.

As she stood in the Great Hall preparing to cast the spell, a silence
fell over the room and a finger of ice caressed her heart. Turning
to follow the fearful gazes of the retainers, she became aware for
the first time of a darkly handsome prince, with eyes of endless void
and teeth like polished marble headstones. "I am Death," he said, in
a voice like the opening of a lover's burial casket, "and this is my
castle."

"You lie," she said, "for I know you. You are Avon, and my love,"
for he had filled her dreams during the long sleep.

"You know nothing," he said hollowly.

She stretched her arms out to him. "Kiss me, then, and see."

So he took her in his arms, and the taste of his lips was the sweetest
of poisons, and their effect was as the waters of Lethe, and she
forgot herself. And he plucked the ring of power from her finger, and
held it up before her eyes, and said with infinite sadness, "Let that
be a lesson to you. Never fall in love with Death."

And the princess looked once more into the void of his eyes, and
fell asleep again, this time forever.

The End

Epilogue

"Fool," said Death, "why is it that they never learn, these princesses?
Why do they think that love will protect them from my fatal grip?"

"Because they are more fool than I," answered the Fool, "and if
ever I trust you, why then, you may take me to the highest tower
and throw me out the window."

"I shall remember that," said Death.

(Okay, I cheated, I took the easiest one; that just means the rest of
you will easily do better. Might I suggest Hostage lends itself to
Rapunzel? Honestly, Joanne, you've got to be more careful what
you say. Did I mention that the dark prince was wearing the
Deathwatch jacket?)

Would anyone be interested in a visit to the tower used in Bounty? (the one
with the thing that looks like the Eifel tower on top)

I'm in touch with the lady in charge and she'd be willing to take us inside
(though obviously it looks very different from Sarkoff's residence as it's
actually a bell tower.)

There's a couple of other things to see in the immediate area, gardens, a small
museum, Quex House (the tower is in Quex park in Kent) and I think it would make
a pleasant day out to spend with other fans.

If you're interested, let me know and I'll try and find a date when everyone can
make it.

Yes, I saw the Callys, and they're very pretty, but they're none of them in
the style I was referring to (that sort of monochrome pastel look you did
for a couple of pics).

Come to think of it, I could probably knock up a few myself with some frame
grabs and and a lot of fiddling in Paint Shop Pro. But it wouldn't be the
same.

The museum is *fantastic*. It's full of dioramas of stuffed animals (an
earlier Powell-Cotton was an enthusiastic big game hunter who later turned
conservationist). The first gallery you walk into, you see a glass case in
front of you, about 20 feet high, with whole *trees* in it. And the
branches are dripping with monkeys.

There's also a large collection of weapons (19th Century firearms, African
and Asian hand weapons), ethnographic artefacts, local archaeology etc.
Small is beautiful, well worth a visit.

Oh good. I think I can tell Ian that Blake is viable now.

If he makes Blake and we sell five or more Blakes then I'll start taking
requests for the next character. I've had Servlan and Travis suggested so far,
I think.

Well <grin> Kelvin does charge, because it takes about half a day to do the job
properly.

If you want to send them to me, I could scan them and put some in the gallery on
my web site. There's a section there for fan art and I'd like to see more
pictures there.

I forgot to ask if anybody would be able to make me a copy of the unedited
version of "Rescue".
I really wonder why the Beeb edited this episode. Perhaps it was because
"Terminal" was too long? After all, it is by far the longest episode with
its 53 minutes...

You're just stirring, woman. <grin> Behave, Mistral, or I'll never get Hotel
Terra Nostra finished. Or the other one to a Psychedelic Furs song.

Ah, I see. The ink-plus-carefully-applied-pencil-lead style. Applied
with cotton buds. That style.
I'll keep it in mind.

No, it wouldn't be the same. I've had fun, though, taking a scanned
illo and applying special effects to it. Done that a few times of
late. I think my favourite is the Sapphire I did for Refractions #6.
Or maybe the Sam Beckett for Refractions #3. Vortexes are so much
easier to do with special effects.... (-8

(Kathryn goes and refreshes her memory) Ah yes, that one. Guerilla
Cally.

I'm not too sure about that, what he says is:
"I have to get rid of Blake first, you're next on my list."
Later, when he comes back with the *treasure* he says:
"We could own our own planet" and later "We may never have this chance
again"

I'm not saying that he would have been too distressed if something happened
to Jenna somewhere in the not-too-distant future but I doubt he would have
done it himself. He wanted to be rid of Blake because he saw that Blake was
a "crusader" but I agree that Avon and Jenna have more in common than they'd
like to admit (This might explain why they never got along, maybe they saw
in each other what they didn't like about themselves, in Jenna's case at
least) and I don't think he bore her any particular malice.

Besides it sounded like there was plenty to go around and I think Avon was
almost more interested in the challenge of acquiring the wealth and the
novelty of having it to hoard than in actually spending it.

Well, Calle,

There are the Death Warmed Up Cats who lie about snozing all day and the
Scardey Cats who run at the slightest hint of your movement or noise,
for starters. There are the Love Cats who cuddle in your lap and purr
ad infinitum....

I imagine if Vila were a cat he'd be a "batting practice" type since his
hands do get into things.
